Equipment

  • Flip chart paper
  • Laptop with Mobirise or similar graphical website builder installed
  • Timer
  • Post-it notes
  • Markers
  • Debrief Cards

Tasks: Delivery

Part 1: Setup

  1. Form a Sprint Backlog on another sheet of flip chart paper
  2. As a team sum up the total number of story points for all of the items in the Product Backlog
  3. On a sheet of flip chart paper create a Burnup Chart and Velocity Chart
    1. On the Release Burnup Chart mark off the total number of story points on the vertical axis and calculate the divisions on the vertical axis. (For example, if my total number of story points on my Product Backlog is 100, then I will put 100 on the top of the vertical axis and mark off 10 story points for each division on the vertical axis.)
  4. On the laptop start the Mobirise app

Part 2: Sprints

  1. Decide who is going to be the Scrum Master and the Product Owner for this Sprint
  2. Start the timer for a 25 minute time-box
  3. 5 mins Sprint Planning - Sprint plan for the sprint choosing what the Sprint Goal is, what to do to achieve the Sprint Goal and how to do the work, placing the selected items from the Product Backlog on to the Sprint Backlog
  4. 12 mins Sprint Work - Work through the Sprint to achieve the Sprint Goal and update the Sprint Backlog
  5. 5 mins Sprint Review - Hold a Sprint Review with the facilitator (the client) to determine what is “Done”:
    1. On the Sprint Backlog mark off the items that were completed during the Sprint as “Done” with a bold tick or similar, and put them back on to the Product Backlog
    2. Update the Velocity chart with the total work completed for the Sprint
    3. Update the Release Burnup chart by marking how much total work is currently on the Product Backlog (including done work,) and increment the work done by the team for the Sprint
    4. Refine the Product Backlog as needed to arrange the work for the remaining sprints
  6. 3 mins Sprint Retrospective - Hold a Sprint Retrospective with the Development Team to determine what is working well and what process improvements to make for the next Sprint.
  7. Repeat steps 1 – 6 for 4 more Sprints to deliver the project
  8. Call over the facilitator to review
