Metrics form data into meaningful information, which in turn helps with decisions making.
Metrics indicate past progress and may be useful to represent trends, however, past performance is not an indicator of future performance. Hence, metrics used to predict the future are not a replacement for empiricism and the inspection and adaptation of the Increment and the process.
