User Interviews

Talking to customers and users is a great way to understand their perspectives and gain insightful feedback as to how they reacted, what are their expectations and how to improve your product or services.

Allow for some preparation time for the team to devise questions to ask during the interview. Good questions are ones that can lead to user stories rather than just eliciting a “yes” or “no” response.

When conducting the interview try to provide a safe environment that is non-threatening and allows the user to feel at ease in the surroundings.

Having the product or service available so that the user can interact with it and demonstrate their feedback is a great way to gain deeper insights and interactions for the team. Encourage the customer or user to do most of the talking with the team listening and taking notes, and having time to think about clarifying questions to make the most of the opportunity.

Finish up with a brief summary of the findings and thank the customer for their time to talk with you and the team.
